I HAVE FOUND THAT KEIKO TICKED ALL MY BOXES

I have been taking piano lessons with Keiko for 2 years and, as a mature student with a 40-year gap since I last played the piano, it was important to me to find a teacher who would quickly understand what I had retained and what I needed to focus on. I also needed a teacher who would be both encouraging, and direct and constructive in their feedback. I have found that Keiko ticked all my boxes and would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn the piano. She is positive and non-judgemental but provides very constructive advice on what needs to be improved and what to focus on with practise. She remains positive, even when it is obvious I have struggled with my practise, and has a real knack to identify the next pieces I should learn to improve my skills. In 2 years with Keiko I have gone from virtually nothing to being able to play many classical and contemporary pieces at a reasonable standard, being able to adequately sight read at my level, and play scales and arpeggios without errors. During lockdown, Keiko arranged Zoom lessons so that we could continue our learning. The focus is the music and creating an engaging musical experience for me as the player, Keiko as my teacher, and anyone else who happens to be listening. I look forward to continuing my piano journey with Keiko and achieving my personal goals with her expert guidance. Oh, and on top of this, Keiko is a lovely person who is a pleasure to meet with every week. – Lesley Brooks
