WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN KEIKO’S PIANO LESSONS
Music is to be enjoyed and to share that joy with others.
The word “music” is called “ongaku” in Japanese and can be written using two Kanji characters, originally borrowed from the ancient Chinese alphabet, which mean, “to enjoy sounds”. Keiko always keeps this in mind when she teaches and she tries to make each piano lesson fun, inspiring and challenging for each of her students.
Here are some examples of the things you will be doing in your piano lessons with Keiko:
- Acquiring basic music knowledge, e.g. how to read music, rhythm, etc.
- Playing pieces of Keiko’s choice and your choice
- Playing piano duets and doing ensemble
- Working on piano technique appropriate to your level
- Aural practice
- Improving note-reading skills
- More advanced music theory
- Preparing for grade exams, competitions and public performance
- Learning about classical composers and music history
Keiko teaches piano lessons to any level and any genre from classical to jazz to contemporary. Absolute beginners who cannot read music or have never learnt any musical instruments are welcome.
